1,001: Week One

I am one week into my 1,001 days and already regretting a few of the goals on my list. A week, on paper, feels like forever. A week, in reality, speeds onward like a bullet train. So, it’s taking every ounce of discipline in me not to go back and revise my original goals. No, I did not make my blog posts. No, I did not get around to reading that short story.

There is always next week. I would like, instead, to look at those things I did accomplish.

I completed one goal this week: Write a letter to myself to open at the end of my 1,001 days. Well, the letter is sitting pretty and waiting to be opened on June 29, 2013.

The rest of my goals are progressing nicely. I journal every day (even when I have nothing to say). Someday, some unfortunate soul will stumble upon these journals, read them, and make a d-colon-face. I certainly would not want to read them, better I bury them when all this is over.

I read Longfellow’s The Legend of Rabbi Ben Levi this week and you can read it here. The poem made me smile. I especially enjoyed when the Rabbi stole the Angel of Death’s sword because it’s something I would have done.

I watched two movies this week: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Let’s just say that the former is on it’s way to becoming part of my Blu-ray collection and the latter had my face meeting my palm several times. While watching The Lightning Thief, I kept waiting for Sam and Dean to show up and smite Michael with holy fire. Instead, there were goat people and flying shoes. I was sorely disappointed.
